While procrastinating on my Hamlet paper... I was overcome with a
curious urge to find out which Hamlet production we watched so long ago
in AP Lang. (Or was it Lit? I forgot already)
I remembered the modern setting, Ophelia dead in the fountain and the ghost vanishing into a Pepsi machine.
Armed with these few details, I decided to hit up Amazon and look through their Hamlet movie selections.
And
I have found it. Surprisingly enough, this film adaptation was also
talked about in our Shakespeare text, which makes me infinitely happy,
cause how cool is it when a ghost walks into a pepsi machine?
In case any of you are curious as to which adaptation it is...
Directed by Michael Almereyda starring Kyle MacLachlan, Diane Venora and Ethan Hawke.
No,
I have no idea who these people are. But it's nice to finally be able
to know which version it was. And now that I have finally found this
vital piece of information, I can rest in peace knowing that I now know
what we were watching back in high school.
